RESEARCH: GETTING DADS MORE INVOLVED

The Department for Children, Schools and Families have produced an article on engaging dads more and include a handy toolbox of web resources (listed below):

Families Need Fathers is developing a new area for professionals, with tips on how to engage both sides of separated families.  www.fnf.org.uk

Fatherhood Institute offers training to run "Hit the Ground Crawling", a peer support programme for expectant and new fathers.  It also runs training on engagement methods and offers the Toolkit for Father-Inclusive Practice. www.fatherhoodinstitute.org

Pre-School Learning Alliance has produced a 2009 "Engaging Fathers" wall planner with case studies of effective father work.  It also offers "Time for Dads!", a training workshop on effective engagement with fathers. www.pre-school.org.uk

Trust for the Study of Adolescence runs a useful networking website for people involved with young fathers. www.youngfathers.net
