Who are we?
The Oasis Family Centre is a brand new family support based organisation located in the Scarborough Castle Ward area.
What we do?
Our aim is to serve the Scarborough community by providing families with support, information and guidance; as well as to serve as a base for training to enable new employment opportunities.
Who are we for?
The Oasis Family Centre welcomes everyone, and provides a special provision to young parents, with children under 5 years old.
Below are some examples of best practice that have come out of the Oasis Family Centre:
- Building monitoring and evaluation systems into the project from the outset has given real direction and purpose to the Oasis Centre. They have been able to establish at regular intervals where they are, where they want to be going and how they are going to get there. These systems have helped to raise overall standards at the centre and the information has also been readily available to funders, which saves having to come up with evidence on the spot

Encouraging service users to volunteer has built confidence in people and helped some of the unemployed service users to get back into work

Management Committee members are all involved in the project in a variety of ways. This has helped them to stay in touch with community needs

The structural changes that were made to the original building have opened it up for community use and as a result, the Oasis Centre is able to respond to some of the needs in the community.
