Pathways of Chesterfield is a day centre for those who are either hoemless or rootless.
We aim to:
Provide support, advice and refuge for homeless and rootless people and those with no fixed abode in Chesterfield and the surrounding area.
Work in partnership with the public, private and voluntary sectors.
Support those who are disadvantages and with a variety of physical, social and emotional needs.
Help break the cycle of homelessness.
Our day centre opened in February 2006 and we now have over 80 regular service users who are homeless or rootless. The centre is open 4 days per week and offers hot meals and drinks, free clothing, a laundry service and rooms to relax in and get warm. The centre has an activities room, complete with pool table and a range of games to play. Literacy and art classes take place here. There is a quiet roon which is stocked with a range of books and magazines. The centre has a wide range of leaflets and people are signposted to services that can best meet their needs such as housing, the alcohol service or the drugs service. A health visistor comes to the centre once a week to help with any health issues and the community dentist comes once a month.
We have computers available for clients to search for jobs, accommodation and to learn new skills.
We have a team of 40 dedicated volunteers who work with our clients to help them move forward. Each client is appointed a key worker, who will meet with that client on a regular basis. Together they can work through issues and look at health, housing, training and employement, helping to break through the homelessness cycle.
As a result of the centre, we hope that our clients will have improved employability, improved personal independance, improved social wellbeing and psychological health and reduced isolation.
